Berlin Elena
Hey diddle diddle. She’s cute and she’s little. We can’t believe that she’s here!

We are so excited to announce the arrival of our little girl, Berlin Elena. We thought she would be coming Thursday via a planned c-section, but she had other ideas. Tuesday I started having minor contractions, but I took it easy that day and things didn’t really progress. However, by Wednesday morning, the contractions were getting more serious and they just continued to intensify throughout the day. My mom was flying in that night to help look after Kade (since we thought the c-section would be done Thursday) but by the time she landed; we knew we’d need to head to the hospital. So we dropped her and Kade off at the house and then drove straight to the hospital. Our doctor met us there and the c-section started about quarter after nine. She was born at 9:38 and even though I was hidden behind the drape, I could see in the reflection of the glass cabinet doors when the doctor pulled her out. That was really amazing! She weighed in at 7 pounds and measured 18 ¼” inches long.

She is completely healthy and absolutely beautiful, I’m not biased – really! But you can see from the photos, she’s gorgeous, right? Kyle brought Mom and Kade by the hospital the next day to meet as Kade would say “Baby SisSis”. He was very excited and so gentle. He got a little self-conscious when we told him he could kiss her on the forehead… super adorable!

She and I are staying in the hospital until probably Saturday. Right now I’m feeling ok, as long as I stay on top of the pain medication. I can move around, but very sloooowly. But it doesn’t really matter since I get to hold this darling little girl in my arms all day.
God has given us a beautiful gift! Hope you enjoy the pictures of our experience…
