Christmas is definitely my all time favorite holiday. Every year my mom goes all-out with creating a winter wonderland and faithfully carrying out what have now become holiday traditions (like the M&M Santa, warm Chex Mix, and non-stop Christmas music) and so now that I’m 1,200 miles away I fell it is my honor and duty to continue these traditions in my home.
December 1st I insisted Kyle get down the boxes of decorations from above the garage so I could, in his words “Christma-fy”, the house. And of course, one of the key elements for decorating is the stocking. How else would we get Hershey’s candy bars and lottery tickets on Christmas morning? When Kyle and I got married, my wonderful Aunt Becky made us these.
They are beautiful and I love them, but this year there was one problem…Kade didn’t have one. So I pulled out the trusty “Super ZigZag” (best name for a sewing machine EVER) and made a quick trip to JoAnn’s.
It’s made of blue corduroy with a flannel toe and heel. Then just to add a bit of accent, I used 3 wooden buttons and some navy trim. And now we have a complete – for the time being – family of stockings.
