Art Smock Pattern

This is part one of Kade’s Christmas present.  Thanks to the fact that a 17 month old will still be surprised Christmas morning despite the fact that he’s already seen his present, I figured I’d give you a preview.  I wanted to give Kade a smock (because aprons are for girls :P ) to protect his clothes as he’s getting more and more interested in art projects and helping mom cook.  I found this adorable pattern on The May Fly blog and adapted it a bit to fit Kade.

I added some length so hopefully it will fit for a little longer.  The pattern is made so that it can tie at the shoulders, but I think I may end up adding velcro or buttons to give him more room in the arms.  I love that it’s reversible; one side for art, the other for cooking.   And despite the fact that Kyle says it looks like a dress, I’m hoping he’ll get a lot of use out of it.
